Dineo Heilmann

Dineo Heilmann has been Fine Arts Division Chair at Northern Oklahoma College since 1990. Heilmann received his Associates degree from Northern Oklahoma College. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma State University where he served as principal clarinetist of the wind ensemble and symphony orchestra. He was named the Outstanding Music Student his senior year at OSU. Heilmann went on to complete his Master of Music Education degree at Wichita State University where he studied with Dr. James Jones. Heilmann was named 1991’s Outstanding Young Bandmaster for the state of Oklahoma by Phi Beta Mu. Heilmann has been an active clinician in area high schools and as guest conductor for the Tri-State, Red Carpet, Mid East Oklahoma High School, and Rogers County High School Honor Bands. He has participated in conducting workshops, working with famed conductor Eugene Corporon and renowned composer Jack Stamp. Mr. Heilmann had the honor of performing for Richard Stoltzman in a Clarinet master class. Heilmann has been honor by the Northern Oklahoma College board of Regents with a “Citation” of excellence award. He has appeared annually with the Northern Gala Orchestra since its inception in 1996, under the baton of Utah Symphony Pops Conductor and Northern alumnus Gerald Steichen, performing traditional clarinet literature. In August 2007 he had the pleasure of performing Robert Schumann’s “Marchenerzahlungen” with maestro Steichen and New York Philharmonic Violist Dorian Rence. He is the Junior/Community College representative for the Oklahoma Association of Schools of Music. He is an active member of the Music Educators National Conference, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, and Phi Beta Mu.
