In addition to the general education requirements, Child Development students focus on early care and education courses; Child Health, Safety, & Nutrition; and Infant/Toddler & Preschool Programming. Elective options include Music, Special Needs, Child Development, and Administration of Child Care Programs. Our CD courses can be used to apply for the CDA. We also offer two certificates, Certificate of Mastery in Child Development and Certificate of Administration of Child Care Programs. All coursework for the certificates are part of the Associates in Arts degree.
Studies and research in brain development, children and family health practices, children’s safety, children’s nutrition, classroom and behavior management, and family and societal cultures within the field of early care and education is continually changing. At Northern Oklahoma College we strive to provide the most current course content to our students. Because of this prior core coursework must have been taken within the last ten years. Students may provide coursework, course syllabi, textbooks, etc., to NOC for consideration of exemptions to this policy. For in-state institutions contributing to the state transfer matrix, course equivalency is determined by that matrix. (https://www.okhighered.org/transfer-students/course-transfer.shtml)
