The Mavericks opened Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a convincing 4-0 shut out of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. The first half was played fairly evenly with NEO collecting more shots on goal than the Mavs 10-9, but the Mavs made theirs count scoring two in the first half against the wind. Chris Baruani scored his first goal of the season midway through the first half, heading in a cross from Reece Harrison. Late in the first half Bryson Reed was fouled in the penalty box. Reece Harrison scored the penalty kick putting the Mavs up 2-0 at the half. It didn't take Northern long to put the game away in the second half. Angel Torres played the ball to Felix Mora who raced down the right side before passing to Bryson Reed. Bryson beat the goal keeper to put the Mavericks up 3-0 just three minutes into the second half. Bryson Reed would strike again nine minutes later with Rojay Smith picking up the assist. Matthew Cross picked up the shutout in goal for Northern. The defense led by Alejandro Olmos, Josh Peters, and Jhovany Maldonado allowed NEO just two shot in the second half while the Mavericks took fourteen shots.
