NOC Cheerleading clinic and tryouts today and tomorrow
A tryout clinic for the 2014-2015 Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa cheer team is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 14 in the Wellness Center with tryouts beginning at 4 p.m. April 15 in the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse. An open gym will be held Sunday, April 13 from 7-9 p.m. in the Wellness Center, according to cheerleader coach Karri Morrill.
The NOC coaching staff will interview and judge each cheerleader throughout the clinic period and the Tuesday tryouts will be closed to the public.
Prospective cheerleaders should bring an updated physical form, insurance information, a letter of recommendation and the completed information sheet from the tryout information packet. All of the paperwork requirements may be found at www.noc.edu under the Maverick Athletics tab.
“As a member of the 2014-2015 Northern Oklahoma College coed cheerleading squad, you will support the Mavericks and also earn college credit. Other benefits NOC cheerleaders might receive are 15 hours worth of tuition waiver, dormitory room and/or books. The complete cheerleading scholarship is equal to approximately $1,900 per semester. All cheerleaders must meet NOC admission requirements, pass a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintain a 2.00 grade-point average each semester,” Morrill said. “We are also looking for a Maverick Mascot and anyone interested should contact me. The Mascot will receive a 15 credit hour tuition waiver scholarship.”
“The open gym time on Sunday is for learning some stunting techniques and improving your skills only. It's a fun and open environment and a great way to meet those that will be trying out to relieve stress about the tryouts,” she added.
